چکیده

A method is presented for the automatic extraction of voice source parameters from speech. An automatic i n-verse filtering algorithm is used to obtain an esti mate of the glottal flow signal. Subsequently, an LF-model [1] is fitted to the glottal flow signal. In the current article we will focus on the improvement of the automatic fit procedure. To keep track of the performance of the fit procedure, a quantitative evaluation criterion is preferred. It is difficult to obtain such a criterion for natural speec h. Therefore , we propose an evaluation method in which synt hetic speech is used. We also conducted qualitative tests for disturbances that are often found in natural speech , i.e. source-filter interaction.

LF model based glottal source parameter estimation by extended Kalman filtering

Abstract — A new algorithm for glottal source parameter estimation of voiced speech based on the Liljencrants-Fant (LF) model is presented in this work. Each pitch period of the inverse filtered glottal flow derivative is divided into two phases according to the glottal closing instant and an extended Kalman filter is iteratively applied to estimate the shape controlling parameters for both pha...

Macroscopic Visualization of the Heart Electrical Activity Via an Algebraic Computer Model

In this study, a mathematical model is developed based on algebraic equations which is capable of generating artificially normal events of electrocardiogram (ECG) signals such as P-wave, QRS complex, and T-wave. This model can also be implemented for the simulation of abnormal phenomena of electrocardiographic signals such as ST-segment episodes (i.e. depression, elevation, and sloped ascending...

Optimizations and fitting procedures for the liljencrants-fant model for statistical parametric speech synthesis

Every parametric speech synthesizer requires a good excitation model to produce speech that sounds natural. In this paper, we describe efforts toward building one such model using the Liljencrants-Fant (LF) model. We used the Iterative Adaptive Inverse Filtering technique to derive an initial estimate of the glottal flow derivative (GFD). Candidate pitch periods in the estimated GFD were then l...

Source Model Adequacy for Pathological Voice Synthesis

Pathological voices are particularly difficult to inverse filter and fit with source models, in part, because of source-tract interactions inherent in these voice types. In order to obtain good synthetic copies of these voices, we need to know the practical importance of accurately inverse filtering and modeling individual voice sources. To this end, thirty different voices were synthesized, ea...

On the relation between voice source characteristics and prosody

The behaviour of the voice source characteristics in connected speech was studied. Voice source parameters were obtained by automatic inverse filtering, followed by automatic fitting of the LF-model to the data. Consistent relations between voice source parameters and prosody were observed.
